Your Explore team is registered. Now what? Here's how to get through your first few weeks, especially if this is your first season coaching.
Before your first meeting
- Download the season materials. The Team Meeting Guide plans every session for you, and each student gets an Engineering Notebook. Both are on the 2026-27 Explore page.
- Get your kits ready. Unpack your BIOGLOW™ Explore Set and have a LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Essential set ready. Install the free SPIKE App on your laptop or tablet and update the hub before the kids arrive. Need a SPIKE set? Email us.
- Watch the season videos. The Season Welcome and Explore Set videos are a great way to kick off your first meeting.
Your first few weeks
- Follow the Team Meeting Guide. Each session mixes learning about the theme with building and coding. You don't need to know the answers; learning alongside the team is part of the fun.
- Build the team model. Use the Building Instructions on the season page to build the Explore Set model, then let the team design their own part with a moving piece coded in SPIKE Essential.
- Keep the notebook going. Students record ideas, drawings and what they learn each meeting. It helps them tell their story at the Festival.
- Plan the team poster. The poster and the model are what the team shows to reviewers. The Event Introduction on the season page explains what to bring.
Keep the season on track
- West TN deadlines. Our Steps for a Successful Season covers the Regional Activity Fee and signing up for the Explore Festival on Saturday, February 27, 2027.
- Events. Watch the Calendar of Events for the Festival details.
- Tutorials and help. More resources are on our FLL Useful Links page.
